library.hk

Library.hk is a prominent digital hub dedicated to the dissemination of academic literature through the innovative platform Sci-Hub. Founded in 2011 by Alexandra Elbakyan, a Kazakh researcher, Sci-Hub emerged from the need to overcome high costs associated with accessing scientific papers, often behind costly paywalls. Offering an extensive database of over 62 million scholarly articles, the site allows users to access academic research without financial barriers.

Navigating through the complexities of academic publishing, Sci-Hub collaborates with various global entities, including Library Genesis, to provide a vast array of research materials that support scholars, especially in developing countries. The platform uniquely allows users to request specific papers, efficiently sourcing them from institutional accesses or its vast inventory. While it has faced legal challenges, Sci-Hub continues to play a pivotal role in democratizing knowledge and enhancing access to academic resources for users worldwide. Its mission is to empower individuals and institutions lacking sufficient resources to obtain necessary research materials, thereby fostering global academic collaboration.
