About Lieksan Vaskiviikko
Lieksan Vaskiviikko is the largest brass music festival in the Nordic countries. This renowned event offers a comprehensive program that includes music courses, an international competition, a series of high-level concerts, and outdoor performances throughout Lieksa. This year, Lieksan Vaskiviikko focuses on the theme of brass of solace and hope.
In light of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the festival aims to bring comfort and hope to its audience through the power of music. The concerts will showcase pieces that evoke profound emotions and highlight a promising future. Anyone, regardless of age or skill level, can participate in Lieksan Vaskiviikko's music courses.
The festival provides opportunities for both music enthusiasts and professionals to improve their skills and broaden their musical horizons. In addition to the courses, Lieksan Vaskiviikko also features a highly anticipated international tuba competition. Congratulations to the winners of the 4th international tuba competition in 2023: Richard Bence Masa from Hungary (1st prize), Ilkka Marttila from Finland (2nd prize), and Joel Wendelin from Finland (3rd prize).
