LIFE BACCATA is a conservation project focused on preserving and restoring yew forests in the Cantabrian Mountains, including the priority habitat formed by yew woods. Its work combines practical habitat restoration with research, monitoring, public information and collaboration across regions. The project has characterised more than a hundred yew groves and carried out conservation actions in areas including Castilla y León, Galicia and the Basque Country.

Activities reported on the site include monitoring forest dynamics, supporting the presence of yew, installing experimental protective fences and studying the genetic diversity and conservation of yew in the Iberian Peninsula. LIFE BACCATA also documents emblematic yew trees and their cultural and ethnographic significance. To share its findings, the project provides news, images, videos, exhibitions, informative materials and publications, and organises seminars and networking events on topics such as yew plant production and forest habitat conservation.
