About Lifting Literacy Aotearoa
Lifting Literacy Aotearoa is a brand dedicated to addressing New Zealand's entrenched literacy problem. We aim to advocate for the acceptance and adoption of the Science of Reading and evidence-informed literacy instruction to ensure that all children in NZ reach their full potential, become valued members of society, and lead fulfilling lives. Our mission extends to providing resources and information to both parents and teachers.
Aspiring to achieve a 100% literate New Zealand, we combine the art of teaching with the science of reading. With a focus on research and collaboration, we engage with government officials and stakeholders to effect change. By promoting a Structured Literacy approach, which goes beyond phonics, we bridge the achievement gap, boost literacy levels, and enhance vocabulary and comprehension skills.
