Lighting Global

Lighting Global is a brand that focuses on rapidly increasing access to off-grid solar energy for people living without electricity worldwide. As an initiative of the World Bank Group, Lighting Global works towards achieving universal energy access by 2030. Currently, there are about 733 million people living without electricity, with the majority residing in rural areas.

Lighting Global recognizes the importance of decentralized energy systems, especially in rural regions, where 80 percent of the population without electricity resides. Traditional solutions such as kerosene, candles, and battery torches are expensive, harmful to health, and polluting, limiting the opportunities for those in energy poverty. Lighting Global offers a range of products and services such as policy engagement, market intelligence, quality assurance, access to finance, consumer education, and capacity building to address this issue.
