Lightium

Lightium AG is a Swiss photonic foundry focused on thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) technology for next-generation photonic integrated circuits. Its services support customers from rapid prototyping and multi-project wafer (MPW) runs through volume production, with manufacturing on 200 mm wafers in a high-volume foundry environment. By designing its process with production readiness in mind, Lightium aims to help reduce time to market and industrialization risks.

The company’s TFLN platform is intended to enable high-performance photonic solutions, including light-speed modulation above 100 GHz, low-voltage operation with Vπ at or below 1 V, a transparency window spanning 350 to 5,500 nm, and strong second- and third-order nonlinearities. Lightium develops its process flow for performance, robustness, and flexibility, and offers a comprehensive photonic design kit in four bandwidth options: C-band, O-band, 780 nm, and 830 nm. The platform is currently available only through closed beta testing. Lightium is based in Schlieren, Switzerland, and invites prospective users to get in touch.
