PG Light Up the Tree, Inc. is a community-focused organization dedicated to improving Punta Gorda and managing and funding its annual Christmas tree lighting festival. Its signature event, Light Up the Night, is a free celebration held in downtown Punta Gorda during the first week of December. The 2026 event is scheduled for December 4 and welcomes attendees of all ages for an evening of holiday activities and entertainment.
Festivities begin at 4:00 p.m., with vendors and seasonal refreshments, followed by Santa’s arrival, live performances on two stages, and the tree lighting ceremony at 8:30 p.m. The program also includes a 50/50 drawing, with the winner announced on the event’s jumbotron. The organization invites local businesses and community members to get involved through sponsorship opportunities, donations, and participation in the event. It also plans to add new decorations to Punta Gorda’s main street each year as its budget allows. Through this annual gathering, PG Light Up the Tree supports community celebration and brings residents and visitors together for a shared holiday tradition.
