Lily’s Garden is a fundraising organization dedicated to advancing childhood cancer research and improving care for young patients. Founded by Lily Hensiek and her family after Lily’s experience with leukemia, the organization supports pediatric cancer efforts at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. Its work includes funding the Lily’s Garden Pediatric Leukemia Program, an endowed fellowship in pediatric hematology-oncology, and research opportunities for fellows and early-career investigators.
Through its research funds, Lily’s Garden helps support studies exploring promising ideas and emerging treatment options, with the aim of developing more effective and less harmful treatments for children with cancer. The organization also established an endowed lecture and grand rounds to support education and research in childhood cancer. Since beginning its fundraising efforts, Lily’s Garden has raised more than $3 million for pediatric cancer initiatives at Vanderbilt. Donations help sustain research, training, and clinical programs focused on young patients. Inspired by Lily’s determination and her community’s support, Lily’s Garden continues to raise funds and awareness in the hope of advancing progress toward cures for childhood cancer.
