Limerick Astronomy Club

The Limerick Astronomy Club (LAC) has been a cornerstone of astronomical enthusiasm in Ireland's Midwest since its founding in 1986. Originally known as the Shannonside Astronomy Club until 2018, LAC is a vibrant community of astronomy enthusiasts from Limerick, Clare, Tipperary, and beyond. The club prides itself on being not just a platform for observation but also an educational resource, hosting monthly meetings where members engage in discussions about the cosmos, enjoy presentations on upcoming celestial events, and connect over shared interests in astrophotography and equipment.

LAC organizes observing sessions at renowned dark sky sites and holds annual StarParties in the picturesque Burren, making astronomical events accessible to the public. Additionally, the club actively contributes to local schools with informative talks and runs a popular bulletin board for communal discussions. With a non-profit ethos and a fully elected committee, the Limerick Astronomy Club is dedicated to promoting astronomy while fostering a welcoming environment for both novice and experienced stargazers.
