Lincoln Conservation District

Lincoln Conservation District is a local conservation organization based in Canton, South Dakota. It supports landowners and the wider community with practical information and resources for conserving soil, water, trees, grasslands, and wildlife habitat. Its services and educational materials address windbreak and shelterbelt design, woody habitat establishment, weed control in Conservation Reserve Program plantings, and financial assistance through the Farm Service Agency. The district also shares guidance on maintaining healthy trees, pruning shade trees, caring for planting fabric, and establishing grass cover between tree rows.

A key offering is its tree program: community members can consult tree descriptions and submit orders through the district’s order form. The district’s seasonal work includes machine-planting trees, packaging orders, and installing fabric, reflecting its hands-on role in local planting efforts. Its website provides access to county information, conservation resources, partner details, board meeting minutes, and contact information. Lincoln Conservation District is located at 801 E. 5th Street, Suite 2, Canton, and serves the area through both practical programs and public-facing guidance on land stewardship.
