FIREBird is a wildfire detection system from Lindsey FireSense LLC, designed to identify small fires near homes, communities, commercial properties, and high-risk rights-of-way such as roads and power lines. Its heat-based technology detects fires shortly after ignition, day or night and across varying weather conditions, without waiting for smoke to become visible or a 911 call to be made.
Each device provides continuous 360-degree monitoring through 14 wildfire-specific thermal detectors and optical cameras. FIREBird can detect very small fires up to 400 feet away and larger fires up to 900 feet away, with a typical detection-to-reporting time of about two minutes. It sends alerts by email or text to designated people or groups, and users can view real-time fire photos on a laptop or mobile device. The system also measures wind speed, wind direction, temperature, and humidity, monitors right-of-way conditions, and includes cellular communications and web reporting. FIREBird can connect directly to dispatch centers, helping organizations and first responders locate emerging fires sooner and gain valuable time to respond.
