About Lineage Cell Therapeutics
Lineage Cell Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotechnology company developing off-the-shelf, allogeneic cell therapies for serious medical conditions. Its mission is to advance a new branch of medicine by creating specialized human cells and transplanting them into patients to replace or support cells that are absent or dysfunctional because of degenerative disease, aging, or traumatic injury. The company’s programs are built on its proprietary AlloSCOPE platform, which combines cell engineering with development and manufacturing capabilities.
Using directed differentiation protocols and established, well-characterized, self-renewing pluripotent cell lines, Lineage develops, manufactures, and tests cells designed to perform functions similar or substantially identical to those of naturally occurring human cells. Some programs may also be designed with additional beneficial properties. Its pipeline includes OpRegen, a program for dry age-related macular degeneration, and OPC1, a program for spinal cord injury, alongside other research programs.
Lineage also collaborates with Genentech to develop allogeneic retinal pigment epithelial cells for eye diseases, with the aim of replacing or supporting cells affected by degenerative conditions
