Lines in the Lagoon

Lines in the Lagoon is a youth-focused community organization that runs an annual junior fishing tournament in Indian River County, Florida. Its mission is to raise awareness of the declining health of the Indian River Lagoon and encourage young people to help protect the waterways and marine life. The event combines sport fishing, education, and community involvement, offering participants a fun way to learn about the lagoon and its environmental challenges.

The tournament is open to students in kindergarten through grade 12. Anglers may fish from a boat, dock, seawall, or shore within designated areas of the lagoon, between Sebastian Inlet and Fort Pierce Inlet; inlet fishing is not permitted. Registration includes fishing entry, a T-shirt, a goody bag, a wristband, and dinner at the awards ceremony. Scholarships are available to waive the registration fee. The event also features prizes and community activities, and the organization offers sponsorship opportunities and accepts donations.
