The Lipedema Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing understanding and care for lipedema, a chronic condition involving the buildup of fat, most often in the legs and sometimes the arms and lower trunk. The Foundation funds basic and translational research at institutions worldwide to help define the condition, improve diagnosis, and develop treatments. Its work includes funded and Foundation-initiated research, biobank resources, a research roadmap, publications, and a patient registry that supports research participation and collaboration.

The organization also provides information and practical resources for people with lipedema, families, and healthcare professionals. These include educational materials on symptoms, staging, diagnosis, and treatment; a provider directory; guidance for finding a specialist and advocating for care; and a clinical study finder. Clinicians can access diagnostic and treatment guidance, ICD codes, videos, and continuing medical education resources. The Foundation shares patient stories, awareness materials, and research updates, and offers brochures and clinician’s guides.
