Lisztomanias

Lisztomanias is an annual festival in Châteauroux, France, dedicated to Franz Liszt and the many dimensions of his influence on music and culture. Founded in 2002, it brings together concerts, educational activities and community events in the Berry region. The festival’s programme features renowned pianists, orchestras and other performers, with recitals and concerts exploring Liszt’s connections to composers from Schubert and Chopin to Rachmaninov and John Lennon. Events take place at venues including the Équinoxe national stage and the Franz Liszt Auditorium.

Alongside its main concert programme, Lisztomanias presents two piano academies focused on performance and improvisation, as well as children’s workshops, discovery concerts, café-concerts and performances by young soloists. The organisation also promotes humanitarian initiatives inspired by Liszt’s philanthropy, and shares articles, media and educational content about the composer and his cultural legacy. Its activities celebrate humanism, artistic transmission and shared musical experiences. The festival’s 2026 edition marks its 25th anniversary and commemorates George Sand, with a programme themed around her friendship with Liszt.
