About Lived Experience Australia
Lived Experience Australia is the leading representative organization for mental health consumers and carers across Australia. Our mission is to engage, empower, and enable choice in mental health, while our vision is to promote effective consumer, family, and carer advocacy as the driving force behind all changes in mental health services. Established in 2002 as the Private Mental Health Consumer Carer Network, we have expanded our focus to provide national systemic advocacy for consumers, families, and carers in all mental health settings.
Through our informed understanding of the issues, needs, and concerns faced by individuals with mental illness and their families, we actively influence mental health policy, planning, and decision-making at local, state, and national levels. Our committed team, who have lived experience as a consumer or carer, drive our systemic advocacy efforts. We also develop high-quality resources for consumers, families, carers, clinicians, and service providers, ensuring our activities have a meaningful impact on the mental health sector.
