The Living Wage Foundation is a UK movement and initiative of Citizens UK working to improve living standards through fair pay and better work. It promotes the real Living Wage, the only UK wage rate described as independently calculated and rooted in the cost of living. The Foundation also sets a higher London Living Wage rate to reflect the capital’s greater living costs.
Its accreditations help employers commit to responsible employment practices, including paying the real Living Wage and offering secure hours and pension provision through Living Wage, Living Hours and Living Pension. More than 16,000 UK employers are accredited, and the campaign reports that over 490,000 workers have received a pay rise as a result. The Foundation supports businesses through accreditation guidance, employer toolkits, research, case studies and responsible-business resources.
It also brings together employers, workers and partners through initiatives such as Living Wage Places, awards and Living Wage Week
