Living Libraries

Living Libraries is an organization focused on helping children build literacy skills and develop a lifelong love of reading and learning. Its mission is to draw on educational, emotional, and social resources to support young people in becoming resilient, self-empowered learners. Through engaging programs and culturally relevant stories, Living Libraries aims to make reading more frequent, meaningful, and enjoyable while strengthening comprehension.

Its cornerstone program, LiLi, uses immersive reading experiences to encourage children to explore books and unlock their potential as readers. LiYo combines literacy with yoga, bringing together activities for the mind and body in a holistic learning experience. The organization also offers classroom experiences and opportunities to sponsor a child or classroom, helping schools and learning centers bring its programs to students. Other offerings include books, events, and resources for families and educators. Living Libraries shares reported improvements in students’ reading frequency and comprehension across partner schools and learning centers.
