The Lizard Lighthouse Reptile Rescue

The Lizard Lighthouse Inc. is a Nebraska-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming reptiles. The organization provides sanctuary for neglected pets and abandoned exotic animals, then supports their recovery with veterinary care and behavioral assistance. Its goal is to match each reptile with a suitable forever home and help adopters understand the animal’s specific needs. The Lizard Lighthouse also educates communities about responsible reptile care to improve welfare and prevent abandonment.

People can support its work by adopting an available reptile, fostering an animal, volunteering, or donating. Adoption listings feature animals such as frogs, bearded dragons, and day geckos, with details about their temperaments, diets, experience requirements, and enclosure needs. The rescue serves communities across Nebraska and offers an exotic veterinarian locator for those seeking immediate help. According to the organization, it has rescued more than 320 reptiles, helped place over 240 in permanent homes, and educated more than 500 people.
