Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) offers a free educational module called "Communicating About Vaccines — COVID-19 & More" to healthcare professionals and the community. Developed by a team led by VEC visiting scientist Angela Shen, ScD, MPH, this web-based interactive session provides a comprehensive training divided into three parts.

Part 1 covers the dangers of COVID-19, the U.S. vaccine authorization process, and the safety and effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines. Part 2 explores best practices in vaccine communication. Part 3 reviews key points, offers additional resources, and explains how to receive continuing education credits.

Dr. Shen emphasized that the goal of this project is to provide cross-cutting educational material for both adult and pediatric providers, immunization champions, and community members. The module aims to promote understanding of COVID-19 disease, the vaccine approval process, and effective communication strategies to reinforce the importance of vaccination in protecting against COVID-19 complications.

The module is user-friendly, accessible online through various devices, and uses visual and interactive elements to enhance learning. It was developed in collaboration with organizations such as the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Pennsylvania Immunization Coalition, and Philadelphia Department of Public Health.
