Mākslas akadēmija

The Latvian Academy of Arts is a higher education institution in Riga dedicated to the study, practice and research of art and design. Its academic programmes span a wide range of disciplines, including painting, drawing, graphics, sculpture, textile, ceramics, glass, fashion, metal, interior, product and graphic design, visual communication, scenography, environmental art, restoration, and art history and theory. The Academy also offers master’s-level study in areas such as curatorial studies, functional design, and service design strategies and innovation.

Alongside degree programmes, learning opportunities include preparatory courses, continuing education, courses for visiting students and auditors, and lectures. Its research activity is supported by specialist institutes focused on art history, contemporary art, design and architecture, and restoration and materials research. The Academy shares its work and ideas through exhibitions, conferences, public lectures, projects, a virtual gallery and a poster archive.

It also provides student resources including a library, scholarships, career support and international exchange opportunities, and maintains partnerships through programmes such as Erasmus+
