About Ladies Musical Club of Seattle
LMC Seattle, also known as the Ladies Musical Club of Seattle, is Seattle's oldest and most distinguished musical organization. Established in 1891 by a group of talented women musicians, LMC's mission is to foster classical music in the community through education, performance, and awards. As a 501c(3) nonprofit organization in the State of Washington, LMC offers a wide range of music and education programs to people of all ages and diverse backgrounds throughout the region.
One of LMC's flagship programs is its Free Public Concert Series, featuring over 50 free classical music concerts from October through May. These concerts showcase the exceptional talents of LMC member-musicians and guests, taking place in various venues across Seattle and the Eastside. In addition, LMC supports emerging professional musicians through the prestigious Frances Walton Competition.
This competition, named after LMC's founding director, offers solo and ensemble competitions for classical musicians. The competition aims to provide a platform for these talented musicians to showcase their skills and gain recognition in the industry. By fostering classical music and nurturing the next generation of musicians, LMC Seattle continues to have a significant impact on the cultural life of the community
