The Large Millimeter Telescope (LMT), or Gran Telescopio Milimétrico Alfonso Serrano, is a groundbreaking astronomical facility located on the summit of Volcán Sierra Negra in Mexico, standing at an impressive altitude of 4,600 meters. This unique, binational project between Mexico and the United States boasts the title of the world's largest single-dish steerable millimeter-wavelength telescope, specifically designed to capture wavelengths ranging from 0.85 to 4mm.

The LMT plays a pivotal role in advancing our understanding of the universe, focusing on the formation and evolution of planetary systems, stars, black holes, and galaxies across a history spanning 13.7 billion years. The telescope is equipped with a suite of cutting-edge scientific instruments and actively participates in various observational projects, contributing significantly to astronomical research. The LMT is managed collaboratively by the Instituto Nacional de Astrofísica, Óptica y Electrónica, and the University of Massachusetts, and is part of CONACYT's National Laboratories network, symbolizing a significant leap forward in scientific exploration and international collaboration.
