About NBB CAIXA
NBB, the Liga Nacional de Basquete, was launched in December 2008 with a goal to make basketball the second most popular sport in Brazil, following soccer. This independent league, inspired by the NBA's successful model, brought together top leaders and professional basketball teams in Brazil. The NBB consists of 16 associated teams who compete in the Brazilian adult male championship.
With the support of Rede Globo and the Brazilian Basketball Confederation, the NBB is organized by the teams themselves. Representing four Brazilian states and the Federal District, these teams come together to showcase their skills and talent in the NBB. Additionally, the LNB is responsible for organizing two other basketball competitions: the Liga Ouro, which provides an opportunity for additional teams to participate in the NBB, and the LDB, a high-level national competition for athletes under 22 years old.
Through these competitions, the LNB aims to develop young talent and promote basketball at all levels in Brazil
