The LOAD ZX Spectrum Museum is dedicated to the ZX Spectrum, a home computer that introduced many people in Portugal and abroad to personal computing. Established through a partnership between the Municipality of Cantanhede and the Geração Spectrum Association, it houses the collection managed by João Diogo Ramos, an internationally recognized collector. Its 200-square-metre exhibition features functional, documented computers and related equipment, presenting the history of the Spectrum and its influence on technology, gaming and computing careers.
Visitors can explore Sinclair and Timex products, computers, software, Portuguese computing archives, community projects, publications, magazines and material connected with cinema and television. The museum also highlights Portugal’s role in the Timex factory and the people, games and developments behind the computer’s legacy. Portuguese and English guided visits are available, with Spanish planned for the future. The collection is designed for visitors to experience and learn from, while books and magazines can be consulted on site.
