The Local Government Association (LGA) is the national voice of local government in England and Wales. As a political organization, our elected representatives from various political parties direct our organization through our boards and panels. However, we strive to find common ground and speak with one voice on behalf of local government.

Our aim is to set the political agenda and address issues that matter to council members, promoting and improving local government. The LG Group encompasses all parts of England and Wales, including county and district councils, metropolitan and unitary councils, London boroughs, Welsh unitary councils, fire, police, national park, and passenger transport authorities. We also work closely with individual political parties through the political group offices.

Our services include membership and support for councils and councillors, offering resources for officer and councillor development. We provide financial resilience and economic growth support, as well as workforce and HR assistance. Additionally, we conduct research, analyze data, and provide insights on topics such as behavioral insights, climate change, and digital technology.
