Logan Philatelic Society Inc., also known as the Logan City Stamp and Coin Club, is a friendly community of stamp collectors based in Slacks Creek, Queensland. Established in 1973 by Dave Elsmore, the club brings together newcomers and experienced philatelists to share knowledge, trade stamps and preserve postal history. It describes itself as Queensland’s oldest incorporated stamp club and has more than 30 members.
The society holds monthly meetings on the second Thursday of each month at Unity Hub Community Centre, where members can discuss collections, learn from one another and enjoy time together. Its activities include monthly sales by tender, giving collectors a chance to find additions or pass on duplicates. Experienced members also offer advice and valuations for collections.
Members collect stamps from around the world, with interests ranging from Australian colonial and pre-decimal issues to airmail, commemoratives and topical themes such as animals, sports and Disney. The club also explores the Logan region’s postal heritage, including the histories of Beenleigh, Bethania and Browns Plains.
