Log Cabin Village in Fort Worth, Texas, is a captivating living history museum dedicated to preserving 19th-century folk architecture and frontier lifeways. As a project of the Pioneer Texas Heritage Committee and the Tarrant County Historical Society, Log Cabin Village was established in the 1950s to protect the disappearing log structures that once shaped the Texas landscape. Six log houses from the mid-1800s were carefully selected from the North Texas region, restored, and relocated to the present site.
Today, these historic structures provide a vivid glimpse into the daily lives of North Texas pioneers. Visitors can explore a water-powered gristmill, a one-room schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop, an herb garden, and various log home settings, all meticulously furnished with authentic artifacts. Managed by dedicated historical interpreters, Log Cabin Village offers immersive sensory experiences, providing as genuine and accurate an understanding of 19th-century Texas as possible.
Additionally, the village oversees the restoration of the Van Zandt Cottage, a notable Texas historic landmark and National Register of Historic Places listing. Escape the present and immerse yourself in the past at Log Cabin Village, right in the heart of Fort Worth. Plan your visit and step back in time to experience Texas history like never before
