About Lokførerskolen
The Norwegian Train Driver Academy, also known as Lokførerskolen, is a state-approved vocational college dedicated to training aspiring train drivers throughout Norway. They offer a comprehensive one-year education program that is worth 60 credits. The curriculum focuses on building knowledge of infrastructure and vehicles, with approximately half the course consisting of practical training led by experienced driving instructors from various railway companies.
To enhance the learning experience, the academy boasts a state-of-the-art simulation center where students can safely practice what they’ve learned. Upon completion of the course, students undergo a period of accredited practice, followed by a written and oral examination. Additionally, the academy offers courses in adapted pedagogy for instructors and supervisors, as well as railway infrastructure courses in the simulation center.
