LOKO is the umbrella organization for students in Leuven, representing students from KU Leuven, UCLL and the Lemmens Institute. Run by student volunteers, it works to improve student life and ensure that students’ interests are heard across the city. Its advocacy covers issues including housing, food, mobility, diversity, culture, sustainability, health, student activities, student bars and party policy.

LOKO also supports student associations and individual students through subsidies, a lending service for student circles and affiliated associations, legal assistance with rental-deposit issues, and a broad training program. Alongside this support, it organizes activities across culture, sports, international engagement, training and team building. Events include the 24-hour run, Carillon Cantus, Survival of the Student and the Ithaka visual arts festival. Through LOKO International, the organization also offers information about international activities, while its New in Leuven resources help newcomers learn what LOKO does and how it can assist them. Based in Leuven, LOKO combines representation, practical services and events to foster an active and supported student community.
