London Button Company is a family-run British business supplying handmade buttons and accessories to the fashion industry since 1981. Founded by John Race as London Button & Belt, the company began by making covered buttons on demand for his wife, Margaret, a dressmaker. Growing interest in the quality and craftsmanship of its work led the business to supply couture covered buttons, belts and buckles to fashion houses in London, Milan and Moscow.
Today, under the leadership of John’s step-daughter Louise, the company continues its focus on high-quality button making. Its range includes bespoke covered buttons, buckles, bridal buttons, upholstery and craft buttons, and fabric swatches. The company also offers an order form and invites customers to explore its styles online.
In 2014, it was granted a patent for its Venice® button, extending its covered-button range. London Button Company products have appeared in costumes for television programmes, opera productions at Edinburgh’s Royal Conservatoire and collections by international fashion designers
