About London Youth Rowing
London Youth Rowing (LYR) is a brand that is dedicated to providing opportunities for young people in London to engage in rowing and develop essential life skills. Founded by Jim Downing in 2004, LYR's mission is to make rowing a more inclusive and diverse sport. They employ a dedicated team of full-time and part-time coaches and office staff to work with approximately 10,000 young people each year in schools, youth clubs, and rowing clubs across the city.
LYR offers a range of programmes, including engagement and active rowing, life skills development, competition and talent building, and inclusion initiatives. By encouraging disadvantaged young people to be active and nurturing determination and success, LYR aims to improve their physical, social, and mental well-being. The brand is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for its programmes and has implemented key policies to ensure the welfare of participants.
