About Texas Comptroller
Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, Glenn Hegar, oversees the Texas Prepaid Higher Education Tuition Board (Board), which was established in 1995 to help young Texans pursue higher education. The Board administers various tax-advantaged plans and programs, including the Texas Guaranteed Tuition Plan, the Texas Tuition Promise Fund, the Texas College Savings Plan, the Texas LoneStar 529 Plan, and the Texas ABLE Program. In addition to these plans, the Board also manages the Texas Save and Match Program, which awards scholarships through a savings match program funded by appropriations.
The Board consists of the Texas Comptroller, two members appointed by the Governor, and four members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor. The Board holds regular quarterly meetings in Austin, with additional sessions scheduled as needed. The Comptroller serves as the presiding officer and executive director of the Board, supported by staff from the Comptroller's Educational Opportunities and Investments Division.
