Loopgroep Hoogkerk is a community running club in Hoogkerk, established in April 1995 and home to around 50 enthusiastic members of different ages and backgrounds. The club’s main aim is to enjoy running together in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere; competition is optional, and members can take part at their own level.
Weekly training takes place on Wednesday evenings, starting at 7:15 p.m. from the sports hall car park on Zuiderweg. Sessions last about 90 minutes and usually cover 8 to 10 kilometres. They include a gentle warm-up, stretching and running drills, followed by interval training with recovery breaks so participants can work at their own pace. Routes stay mainly in and around Hoogkerk in winter and explore the surrounding countryside when conditions allow. Some members also meet for a Sunday morning run and participate in running events.
Newcomers can try training free for one month before deciding whether to join. Annual membership currently costs €40, which supports member activities and charitable donations.
