Lorna Doone

Lorna Doone Art is the practice of South African artist Lorna Rees, who creates symbolic artworks in pewter, mandala, and mixed media. Drawing on ancient motifs and imagery, her work combines craft, texture, and layered meaning for homes, lodges, public spaces, and collectors. Her portfolio includes intricate mandalas, sculptural busts and torsos, pewter tiles and panels, symbolic seals, stained-glass inserts, and custom interior installations. The mandala collection features circular patterns exploring balance, connection, and inner journeys, offered as framed artworks or bespoke commissions.

Since discovering pewter in 2000, Lorna has worked with modern, lead-free pewter sheeting, incorporating fabrics, jewels, and found materials to create tactile, reflective pieces. Her work ranges from one-off artworks to large-scale projects for hotels and private clients. She has also directed art procurement for the Park Hyatt in Dubai and developed bespoke collections for clients in the Seychelles and elsewhere. In 2003, she created a symbolic pewter artwork for Nelson Mandela’s 85th birthday. Lorna works with individuals, designers, and institutions on commissioned pieces and studio workshops.
