About Lost Canadians
Lost Canadians is an advocacy organization working to persuade the federal government to change the laws that protect Canadian citizenship. Its central aim is to update federal law so that people who have been deprived of citizenship despite being rightful Canadians can have their status recognized. The organization highlights how citizenship legislation, including changes introduced through Bill C-37, has affected Canadians around the world and altered citizenship rights.
Lost Canadians shares information about the history of citizenship laws, the ways people have lost citizenship, and proposed amendments to the Citizenship Act. Its website offers educational resources, news, and blog articles, and provides information about the organization and its work. The advocacy is associated with Don Chapman, whose own loss of citizenship as a child led him to campaign for changes to Canada’s citizenship laws. Chapman’s story is also featured in The Lost Canadians: A Struggle for Citizenship Rights, Equality and Identity, a book available through Amazon.
