Lous Pibalous is a veterans’ rugby club and association based in Capbreton, serving the nearby communities of Hossegor and Seignosse in southwest France. Founded in May 1989 by two former rugby players, the club played its first match later that year against a neighboring team from Saint-Vincent-de-Tyrosse. Its name comes from Gascon and refers to the fishers of pibales, or young eels, whose traditional work is closely associated with the area around Capbreton harbour and Hossegor’s marine lake.
Over the years, Lous Pibalous has met more than 150 teams from across France and abroad, including teams from Wales, Ireland, Scotland, Spain, Morocco, Belgium and the Czech Republic. The association has grown to 55 members and emphasizes friendship, solidarity and a lively social spirit alongside rugby. Its activities include veterans’ rugby, regular flag-rugby training and preparations for matches. The club also shares photographs and organizes community events, including a flea market. Lous Pibalous is based at the Maison des Associations in Capbreton.
