Riverbend is a nonprofit organization serving people affected by substance use disorder and their families in the Greater Lowell and Merrimack Valley communities. Founded in 1971 as Lowell House, it adopted the Riverbend name in 2024 to reflect the organization’s growth. Over more than five decades, Riverbend has supported over 30,000 people and expanded its services across seven cities and towns.

The organization offers residential treatment, outpatient clinical care, day programs, evaluations, case management, clinical support groups, and services for adolescents. Its residential programs include staffed treatment facilities, re-entry housing, and sober homes. Community outreach focuses on harm prevention, while peer recovery support includes recovery coaching, Recovery Coach Academy, and Recovery Cafés in Lowell and Haverhill. Riverbend also connects clients with community resources for housing, employment, and other needs. With an emphasis on accessible, affordable care and personalized guidance, Riverbend helps individuals and families build skills, find support, and pursue a purposeful life in recovery.
