About Lithuanian Prediction Markets Institute
The Lithuanian Prediction Markets Institute (LPMI) is an independent, non-profit initiative focused on research into prediction markets, collective intelligence, and modern forecasting methods. Founded by Giedrius Gestautas, the institute aims to strengthen forecasting culture in Lithuania and the Baltic region and contribute to wider European discussions about using probability to improve decisions in society, business, and public policy.
LPMI studies how information from the public, experts, markets, and artificial intelligence can be combined to estimate the likelihood of future events. Its research areas include prediction markets, the accuracy of groups compared with experts, AI forecasting, economic and political events, forecasting methodology, and regulation. The institute also plans initiatives such as a Lithuanian forecasts barometer and an annual report assessing predictions against actual outcomes.
Alongside research, LPMI offers analysis, publications, media commentary, and opportunities for collaboration with universities, researchers, technology companies, public institutions, and forecasting organizations. Its work emphasizes independence, transparency, neutrality, evidence, and responsible forecasting, with a regional perspective spanning Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.
