LRWRA

The Little Rock Water Reclamation Authority (LRWRA) is a public utility serving Little Rock, Arkansas, with a mission to reclaim, clean, and return water to nature while protecting public health and the environment. It manages the community’s wastewater and sewer systems, investing customer rates in infrastructure, operational improvements, and public education. Through its Project RENEW initiative, LRWRA has worked to address 339 sanitary sewer overflow locations and strengthen the system’s capacity and reliability.

Its facilities treat wastewater and manage increased flows during heavy rainfall, supported by upgrades such as the Scott Hamilton Peak Flow Water Attenuation Facility and improvements at the Adams Field, Little Maumelle, and Fourche Creek facilities. LRWRA also maintains sewer lines using root control treatments, acoustic inspections, and smart sensors for remote monitoring. Its services include programs to reduce fats, oils, and grease in the sewer system and educational outreach that helps residents protect local waterways. The authority also uses renewable energy and beneficially reuses treated biosolids as an agricultural soil amendment.
