About Law Society of SA
The Law Society of South Africa (LSSA) is the representative body for attorneys and advocates in South Africa. Registered with the Legal Practice Council, the LSSA has been serving the attorneys' profession since 1998. Bringing together the Black Lawyers Association, the National Association of Democratic Lawyers, and provincial attorneys' associations, the LSSA plays a crucial role in representing and advancing the interests of the legal profession in South Africa.
With over 27,200 practicing attorneys and 7,000 candidate attorneys, the LSSA ensures the highest standards of legal practice. They work closely with the Legal Practitioners Fidelity Fund, a statutory client protection fund, to safeguard clients' interests and provide bursaries for legal education. The LSSA is also actively involved internationally, being a member of various international affiliations.
They provide resources and initiatives for legal practitioners, including information on the Legal Practice Act and professional examinations for candidate attorneys. If you are in need of legal assistance, the LSSA can help you find a qualified practitioner. They also offer resources on your rights as a client and how to file complaints.
With their focus on legal education and members, the Law Society of South Africa is dedicated to ensuring justice and professionalism in the legal profession
