US LTER

The Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) Network is a community of scientists, students, and educators working across 26 research sites in the United States and beyond. Its mission is to create knowledge, inspire solutions, and cultivate learning through inclusive, interdisciplinary, long-term ecological research. The network connects research sites and supports collaboration, shared learning, and the study of ecological change over time.

LTER provides access to data resources, research findings, publications, site profiles, and information about its core themes. It also supports synthesis working groups and cross-site projects, and shares guidance and resources for information management, education, communication, and community engagement. Learning opportunities include graduate and undergraduate research programs, K–12 education resources, teacher research experiences, webinars, and events for network members. The network communicates its work through news, stories, reports, videos, and a photo gallery, while offering ways to get involved and connect with its community. Managed by the LTER Network Office at the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis, University of California, Santa Barbara, LTER fosters collaboration and broad participation in long-term ecological research.
