LTsER Montado

LTsER Montado is a leading initiative within the Long-Term Ecological Research (LTER) network, focused on the intricate study of ecological processes in montado ecosystems. Through extensive research and monitoring, LTsER Montado seeks to understand the impacts of climate change and episodic events like pollution over extended periods. The network encompasses five key research and monitoring stations, including Herdade da Ribeira Abaixo, Companhia das Lezírias, Herdade da Machuqueira do Grou, Herdade da Coitadinha, and Herdade da Contenda, each representing diverse land-use regimes and ecological scenarios.

LTsER Montado serves as a vital platform connecting researchers, local stakeholders, and decision-makers, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange. It provides robust infrastructure for ecological monitoring, including technical support, laboratories, databases, and in-situ research sites. By engaging the research community and regional populations, LTsER Montado promotes a greater understanding of ecological dynamics and facilitates access to invaluable ecological data, supporting sustainable management practices and policy-making for future generations.
