LUG South, the Lego Users Group of the Southern Region, brings together adult and teenage LEGO fans across Southland and connects them with other user groups in New Zealand and around the world. The group encourages members to share ideas, creations and enthusiasm for LEGO, while contributing to a wider community of fans. In late 2015, LUG South was officially recognized by the LEGO Group as a Recognized LEGO User Group (RLUG), giving it access to information and resources from the company and fellow groups to support its aims.
LUG South also shares the hobby with the public through brick events held across Southland and Otago. These events help raise funds for charitable purposes within the region, with a particular focus on children facing medical challenges and their families. The group’s work combines LEGO creativity, community engagement and fundraising, giving local fans opportunities to participate while supporting families in need.
