Luggala Estate Access

Luggala Estate is a privately managed landscape in Roundwood, County Wicklow, Ireland, dedicated to protecting the area’s natural heritage while honouring its cultural history. Its stewardship focuses on restoring native ecosystems, renewing habitats, strengthening biodiversity and resilience to climate change, and safeguarding the ecological integrity of the Wicklow Mountains. The Estate presents conservation as a long-term partnership with nature, informed by the land’s history and intended to benefit future generations.

Education is central to this work. Luggala collaborates with educators, from early-years learning through to postdoctoral environmental research, sharing knowledge and encouraging new ways of understanding the natural world. Its wider initiatives connect conservation with community, arts, heritage, and creative residency, reflecting the Estate’s relationship between land and culture and the Guinness family legacy.

Luggala is a private working estate, and public access is limited, subject to changing conditions, and must be checked in advance. Groups need prior permission and registration. There is no access to Lough Tay, also known as Guinness Lake, and dogs and cycling are not permitted.
