Lumera Learning

Lumera Learning is a school-based music therapy practice serving school districts in Rochester, New York, and surrounding areas across Monroe, Ontario, Wayne, and Livingston counties. The organization partners with districts to provide neuroaffirming, strengths-based music therapy as a related service on students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Its team works directly in schools, aligning services with each student’s goals and collaborating with teachers and educational teams.

Lumera offers PreK–12 individual sessions, small-group therapy, and classroom music therapy, as well as consultation and co-treatment with occupational, physical, and speech therapists. Services also include eligibility evaluations, staff training, and Extended School Year support for eligible students. Sessions are tailored to students’ strengths and needs, with an emphasis on helping skills carry over across school settings.

Built specifically for the school context, Lumera coordinates its staffing, scheduling, and methods around school calendars, classrooms, and IEP processes. The practice evolved from the schools division of Spectrum Creative Arts and describes its role as a long-term partner to district teams, supporting students through close collaboration and reliable service delivery.
