The Lehigh Valley Amateur Astronomical Society (LVAAS) has been a beacon for astronomy enthusiasts since its establishment in 1957. As one of the oldest continuously-operating amateur astronomy organizations in the United States, LVAAS is dedicated to promoting the study and appreciation of astronomy among its members and the wider community.

Based in Allentown, Pennsylvania, LVAAS operates two main sites: the South Mountain headquarters, which features a planetarium, multiple observatories, and educational facilities, and the Pulpit Rock dark sky site, providing exclusive access for members seeking pristine stargazing conditions. Members benefit from a rental telescope fleet, engaging newsletters, and discounted subscriptions to leading astronomy magazines.

LVAAS hosts various activities, including public star parties, general meetings, and specialized programs for scouts. Events like these offer opportunities for learning and community involvement. With a mission to foster astronomical knowledge and a love for the cosmos, LVAAS welcomes all who are interested in exploring the wonders of the night sky.
