The Las Vegas Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association (LVCPAAA) is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization established in 1998 to strengthen relationships between the community and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). It brings together graduates of the LVMPD Citizens’ Police Academy, Hispanic Citizens’ Police Academy, and City of Las Vegas Marshals Citizens’ Police Academy. With more than 350 members, the association welcomes new alumni and supports continued member education and community involvement.
LVCPAAA raises funds to help provide LVMPD departments and bureaus with equipment, supplies, training, and programs that are needed but not covered by the department’s annual budget. It also offers benevolent assistance to Metro officers and their families in special circumstances. Two major annual fundraising events, Summer Match and a November holiday potluck and auction, help support this work. The association reports donating more than $265,000 to LVMPD, with a focus on training requests. Members also work alongside the Metro Volunteer Program and contribute time to community events and charities.
