Every year, designers aged 18 to 40 who have created at least two womenswear, menswear or ganderless collections are selected to compete in Paris during the semi-final. Fashion Experts meet the shortlisted brands and select the finalists. They then go on to compete in the final, held at the Fondation Louis Vuitton a few months later. The Jury, composed of creative directors from the LVMH Houses, select the winners. Four awards are handed out.

LVMH Prize is an esteemed award created by the LVMH Group to discover and support emerging fashion designers. Each year, a jury consisting of renowned designers from the group's brands selects one Young Talent who has showcased exceptional skills and creativity. As a comprehensive development opportunity, the LVMH Group provides the winner with a €300,000 prize, personalized technical guidance, and financial support for a period of twelve months, covering all aspects of the fashion industry such as intellectual property, sourcing, production, distribution, brand image, communication, and marketing.
Additionally, three young graduates are chosen to receive a €10,000 prize and the opportunity to work within one of the group's brand design teams for a year. The application criteria include being between 18 and 40 years old and having designed and sold at least two fashion collections for men or women (excluding accessories). Graduating students must have completed a minimum of three years of fashion education in an accredited fashion school the year of the award.
