Lycan Jiu Jitsu is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and self-defense training school located at 2905 Shattuck Avenue in Berkeley, California. Its welcoming community serves beginners and experienced grapplers, with instruction centered on leverage, technique, and control rather than brute strength. Adult Gi classes teach core Brazilian Jiu Jitsu skills, including grips, positional control, submissions, and escapes, while No-Gi classes focus on submission grappling without the gi.
Women can train in a dedicated class that follows the adult curriculum in a supportive setting, and Lycan Teen No-Gi is open to students ages 10 and up, developing fundamentals, coordination, fitness, and confidence. All skill levels are welcome, and no prior experience is required. The school offers a free first week of classes, which can include Gi, No-Gi, women’s, or teen sessions, as well as a free self-defense workshop held every other month.
